The Gowanus-based fuzz-rock duo Lightouts return with their first official video. The darkly vaudevillian video for “The Eloise Suite” features racy zombie dancers, a man-eating aerialist, and an overall feel that The Village Voice describes as Stanley “Kubrick’s ‘Addicted To Love.’” Lightouts take viewers down a dark and mysterious road filled with sexual tension and late night antics, culminating in a party scene that tips its hat to Kubrick’s erotic masquerade opus. Dance choreography was provided by Jordana Toback, who recently choreographed the latest Cee-Lo video.
“The Eloise Suite” single is about, “Trying to figure out why the fuck we want what we want. Having to deal with the consequences of acting on desires that we might not wholly understand and that probably aren’t necessarily in our long-term best interests,” according to Greg Nelson, singer for the group. Guitarist/songwriter Gavin Rhodes adds, “The title came about after Charlie Sheen’s romp at the Plaza Hotel. The juxtaposition of his kids sleeping in the famous pink suite while he was being “escorted” down the hall fit the song well.” Read more from the duo in the accompanying interview with The Village Voice.
